JOIN OUR YOUTH MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME!

June 25, 2021

Hi Everyone!

Hope everyone is well, keeping warm and keeping safe!

There is an initiative that I would like to kick-start this month, and this is around a youth mentorship programme.

I have always believed that we have amazing youth in our community that have unlimited potential and exceptional capabilities. Many times however they need support and guidance to fully unleash this potential.

I therefore wanted to initiate a TCA Youth Mentorship Programme where we could pair-up our youth and up-and-coming young professionals with seasoned, experienced people in our community. We just need to look around and notice that there are so many people that have achieved amazing and extraordinary things – and it would be a waste for us not to tap into their knowledge and wealth of experience.

We will start off with a pilot programme of 8 youth/young professionals whom we will partner up with Mentors that they feel comfortable engaging with. The mentors will mostly come from within our community but with the power of virtual meetings and the web, the mentors could technically be based anywhere around the world. We will initially meet with these 8 mentees and evaluate their requirements and needs. The mentees may request people in their industries or someone completely unrelated (but yet have the desired experience and qualities needed by the mentees).

The role of the Mentor will encompass the following (but is not limited to only the list below):
• Provide guidance
• Be a sounding board
• Someone that is authentic and that you can trust
• Motivation
• Help with exploring their goals, careers etc…

Ultimately, we want to empower the youth and young professionals to achieve so much more and fulfil their true potential!

Please drop me an email at erwin.pon@rmb.co.za to let me know if you are interested in being part of this inaugural programme. Send us some information about yourself and what type of person/career achievements (or even the name of the person you may have heard of or seen before) you would like to engage with. Thereafter, we will send you a list of potential Mentors and their profiles for your to chose from. Once done, we will endeavour to arrange an introductory session between the Mentor and Mentee and see if there is a meeting of minds to continue the journey together.

Looking forward to engaging with you all as we kick start this exciting initiative.

Kind regards,
Erwin
Chairman of the TCA
